Founded by husband and wife, Kyle and Rachel Schmid.
Kyle and Rachel Schmid are a married couple who have dedicated their lives to coaching soccer. The two met while playing soccer for UC Irvine and have been inseparable since. They decided to start the Schmid Akademie to utilize their expertise and bring a great product to the people in their community. "We love that we can use our passions to build a program that allows us to spend time together and with our children. Our oldest son Elliott has soccer fever right now and it's so fun to provide him with an environment where he can thrive." -Rachel. The pair know that it's important for kids of this age to enjoy what they are doing all while being pushed to get better. They look forward to meeting your kid and inspiring them to be the best they can be. Kyle and Rachel have three children, Elliott, Arthur, and Bernadette and they reside in Old Towne Orange.
Kyle Schmid is currently the Head Coach for the Loyola Marymount University Lions in Los Angeles, CA. Schmid has been with the Loyola Marymount Lions for the past 3 seasons, and in his time the program has won the WCC, had an undefeated season, and has created many professionals along the way. Prior to LMU Schmid served as an assistant coach at CSU Fullerton for three seasons. Schmid has also held assistant coaching positions at UC Irvine and CSU Northridge while gaining experience at the club and youth levels with various programs as well. He is no stranger to LMU, as he worked with the Lions as a volunteer assistant coach in 2013-14. Schmid graduated from UC Irvine, earning a bachelor's degree in social ecology with a concentration in psychology and social behavior. He played in 56 career games for the Anteaters and was an All-Big West Second Team Selection in 2008. In the same year, he was part of UCI's team that won the Big West Championship and made it to the Round of 16 in the NCAA Division I Tournament, which marked the first NCAA tournament appearance in school history. Schmid also had a professional stint with the Carolina Railhawks in 2014. Kyle has his US Soccer National 'A' Coaching License.
Rachel Schmid is currently an assistant coach at Cerritos College in Norwalk, CA and the director of a club program. Prior to coaching at Cerritos, she was the associate Head Coach at Mt. SAC in Walnut, CA. Schmid helped lead the 2021 team to its first Final Four appearance since 1995. The team was very successful winning the Nike Azteca Tournament, winning the South Coast Conference Tournament, going undefeated in conference, and finishing third in the state and fifth in the nation. Schmid also had a successful club team with Beach FC in the beginning of 2021. Her team won National Cup, finished 2nd in regional cup, and ultimately competed in Nationals for a National Title. Prior to her time and at Mt SAC and Beach FC she was the LA Galaxy Girls Academy U19 team coach and the sports Performance Coach for all other age groups (U15-U19) in Carson, CA.
Schmid was an assistant coach at UC Irvine from 2016-18. UC Irvine finished first in the big west in 2018. Schmid is a proud alum of the UCI program (2005-2009) and a former captain of the 2008 squad. After graduating with a B.A. in Sociology, Schmid went on to play semi-professional soccer for the Los Angeles Strikers in the W-League until she suffered a severe knee injury in early 2013. While playing in the W-League, Schmid obtained a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology from California State University, Fullerton. Schmid spent four years as the assistant women’s soccer coach at Marymount California University where she doubled as the strength and conditioning coach. While at MCU, the program went from a losing record to winning league and competing in the CAL PAC tournament each year. She was also a sports performance coach for Velocity Sports Performance from 2012-2014, specializing in soccer specific training and soccer team training. In 2015, she worked as a physiologist for the USWYNT until she welcomed her son Elliott in December of 2015. Schmid has her USSF National ‘B’ License, and she is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
